Every family has it's quirks. What makes your family unique and fun is usually not the same for another. But, isn't that the fun part? Here is a little insight into our family.
My husband and I are originally form Ohio, and all of our children were born there, too. We are currently living in the crazy hustle and bustle of a Chicago suburb. We have enjoyed our time here very much and have met some wonderful friends.
Our family loves sports and spending time in nature. Picking out birds, wildflowers and trees are a daily activity... even if we have to do it from inside. We are relatively easy going and prefer a gently rhythm to our day as opposed to a strict schedule.
We have been homeschooling our 7 children from the beginning... almost thirteen years. We have gone through many curriculum in our time, but have come to appreciate the importance of life skills and building character as being more important than passing a test or memorizing a long list just to check off a box.
We strive to see each child as an individual who has their own likes, dislikes and learning style.
We try to keep our family, especially our children under 10, relatively screen free. They do watch the occasional cartoon, play a video game or enjoy family movie night. I really want them to enjoy free play inside and out. I want them to find connections with each other, and themselves, for as long as possible without unneeded distractions. Our two teenagers have joined the ranks of smart phone users, but I still try to encourage setting them aside for real interaction. (Often easier said than done)
So, there you have it. A tiny peak behind the curtain. I look forward to getting to know a little bit about you!
